Talk with Jaya Klara Brekke

What is at stake in the field of cryptoeconomics is nothing less than the future economic model of the internet, and with it potentially also global flows of value. However, the field of cryptoeconomics is far from uniform in its theories and approach. On the one hand, it is described as an emerging discipline for engineering network behavior through economic incentives, and on the other hand as the means through which decentralized networks can be made economically sustainable. What unifies the field is an attempt to develop radical alternatives to the surveillance, manipulation and advertisement based internet that exists today. In between these different but overlapping approaches to the economics of networks, many new financial, monetary, network, psychological and sociological experiments are taking place. In this talk Dr. Jaya Klara Brekke will outline the geo/political stakes in the emerging field of cryptoeconomics.
