permacomputing & postmarketOS residency: Chaline Bang

Chaline Bang will have a short residency, under the name If my phone is so smart, why am I only doing dumb stuff with it?  in servus.at from 23.04.2025 to 30.04.2025 as part of the Culture Moves Europe Mobility project funded by the Goethe-Institut. During her stay, Chaline will explore the practice of permacomputing and how to reappropriate a smartphone device with PostmarketOS. Her residency includes two events open to the public:

_> Collective smartphone liberation Session (with PostmarketOS)
The session arises from the joint work of Permacomputing Evening (PMCe), a small research group working on permacomputing, with practical techniques, aesthetic approaches and the organization of public events in collaboration with external researchers.

::What:: bring the device you want to liberate from android. Check first if your device is supported : https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Devices. If your device is not compatible, do not worry, we have a couple available for the workshop. Also we don't guarantee success, but we will try it together!

Artist's Bio
Chaline Bang is an artist and designer exploring the economics of information and alternative ways to engage with technology. Her work spans physical and digital networked spaces, beyond web-based encounters to specific locations where research, subcultures and politics converge. She has been a member of the Rotterdam-based Permacomputing Evenings  group (PMCe) since 2023.
